Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit high-quality original research articles, reviews, case reports, and short communications to the ICMERD-International Journal of Neuroscience (ICMERD-IJN). To ensure a smooth submission and publication process, authors must adhere to the following guidelines:


1. Manuscript Categories

ICMERD-IJN accepts the following types of submissions:

  • Original Research Articles: Detailed reports of original experimental, clinical, or theoretical research (4,000–6,000 words).

  • Review Articles: Comprehensive, critical reviews of existing literature (4,000–7,000 words).

  • Case Reports: Reports of rare or unusual clinical cases with valuable insights (1,500–2,500 words).

  • Short Communications: Concise reports of significant findings (1,500–3,000 words).

  • Letters to the Editor: Commentary on published articles or important issues in neuroscience (up to 1,000 words).


2. Manuscript Preparation

A. General Format

  • Manuscripts should be prepared in Microsoft Word (.docx) format.

  • Use Times New Roman, size 12, with double-spacing throughout the manuscript.

  • Set margins to 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.

  • Include continuous line numbering for easy reference during the review process.


B. Manuscript Structure

Each manuscript should be organized as follows:

  1. Title Page:

    • Title of the manuscript (concise and informative)

    • Full names of all authors with their institutional affiliations

    • Corresponding author’s full contact information (email, phone, address)

  2. Abstract:

    • Maximum 250 words

    • Structured format: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion

    • Provide 3–6 keywords

  3. Main Text:

    • Introduction: State the background, significance, and research objectives

    • Methods: Describe the study design, data collection, and analysis methods

    • Results: Present findings with tables, figures, and statistical analysis

    • Discussion: Interpret findings, limitations, and future implications

    • Conclusion: Summarize key findings and their relevance

  4. Acknowledgments:

    • List funding sources and contributors who are not co-authors

  5. References:

    • Follow the APA (7th Edition) referencing style

    • Ensure proper citation of all references in the text and in the reference list

  6. Figures and Tables:

    • Include figures and tables in a separate file

    • Number figures and tables sequentially (Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.)

    • Provide descriptive captions below each figure and above each table

  7. Supplementary Material:

    • Upload supplementary files separately (if applicable)


3. Ethical Considerations

Authors must follow high ethical standards in research and reporting:

  • Human and Animal Subjects: All studies involving human or animal subjects must have institutional review board (IRB) approval.

  • Informed Consent: Authors must confirm that informed consent was obtained from participants when applicable.

  • Conflict of Interest: All authors must disclose any financial or personal conflicts of interest related to the study.

  • Plagiarism: All submissions are screened for plagiarism. Manuscripts with over 10% similarity index will be rejected.

  • Data Availability: Authors must provide access to the raw data upon request.


4. Submission Process

  1. Online Submission:

    • Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal's online submission platform: www.icmerd-ijn.org

  2. Cover Letter:

    • Include a cover letter that outlines the study’s significance and confirms that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere.

  3. Authorship Confirmation:

    • All authors must confirm their contribution to the research and consent to publication.

  4. Manuscript Review:

    • All manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process.

    • Authors can expect initial feedback within 3–4 weeks of submission.


5. Copyright and Licensing

  • ICMERD-IJN publishes articles under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which allows unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction, provided the original work is properly cited.

  • Authors retain copyright of their work.


6. Revisions and Appeals

  • Authors will be given up to 2–3 weeks to address reviewer comments and submit a revised manuscript.

  • Appeals against editorial decisions must be submitted in writing within 14 days of receiving the decision letter.


7. Article Processing Charges (APC)

  • ICMERD-IJN charges a moderate article processing fee to cover publication costs:

    • Original Research: $500

    • Review Articles: $400

    • Case Reports: $300

    • Short Communications: $250

    • Letters to the Editor: No fee


8. Proofs and Publication

  • Authors will receive a proof of the accepted article before publication.

  • Corrections should be returned within 48 hours.

  • Articles are published online first before inclusion in an issue.


9. Retraction and Correction Policy

  • Articles may be retracted or corrected post-publication if errors are identified.

  • Retractions are issued in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
