Abstract

The role of nutrition in the prevention and management of chronic diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases (CVD), has become a focal point in public health research. Poor dietary patterns, including excessive consumption of processed foods, refined sugars, and unhealthy fats, have been linked to the rising prevalence of these diseases. Conversely, nutrient-rich diets high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats have shown protective effects. This paper explores the connection between nutrition and chronic disease prevention and management by reviewing existing literature and analyzing how targeted dietary interventions can mitigate disease risk and improve health outcomes. Strategies such as the Mediterranean diet, plant-based diets, and reduced sugar intake are evaluated in the context of obesity, diabetes, and CVD. The findings underscore the importance of dietary patterns and nutritional education in shaping long-term health outcomes.
