Quantitative Assessment of Vertical and Horizontal Bone Resorption Following Tooth Extraction and Socket Preservation Using CBCT

This study explores dimensional changes in alveolar bone following tooth extraction and evaluates the efficacy of socket preservation techniques using Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). We analyzed vertical and horizontal resorption patterns to quantify post-extraction bone loss. The findings highlight significant horizontal bone resorption within the first 3–6 months post-extraction, with socket preservation reducing bone volume loss by up to 60%. These outcomes reinforce the necessity of timely alveolar ridge preservation to support future dental rehabilitation.
