Author Guidelines

ICMERD-International Journal of Medical Science (ICMERD-IJMS) welcomes submissions of original research, reviews, case reports, clinical studies, and short communications in the field of medical sciences. Authors must follow the submission guidelines outlined below to ensure a smooth peer-review and publication process.


1. Manuscript Types

ICMERD-IJMS accepts the following types of manuscripts:

Original Research Articles – Present novel findings in medical sciences.
Review Articles – Summarize current advancements and future directions in medical research.
Case Reports – Describe unique or rare clinical cases with educational value.
Clinical Studies & Trials – Report findings from human or animal studies.
Short Communications – Provide brief but significant research findings.
Editorials & Commentaries – Opinion-based articles on recent medical advancements.


2. General Manuscript Formatting

Authors must ensure their manuscripts adhere to the following formatting guidelines:

  • File Format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx).
  • Font: Times New Roman, 12 pt, double-spaced.
  • Margins: 1-inch on all sides.
  • Page Numbers: Bottom-right corner.
  • Word Limit:
    • Original Research: 3,000–5,000 words (excluding references).
    • Review Articles: 4,000–6,000 words.
    • Case Reports: 1,500–2,500 words.
    • Short Communications: 1,000–1,500 words.
    • Editorials: 1,000–2,000 words.

3. Manuscript Structure

Title Page

✔ Title of the manuscript (concise and informative).
✔ Full names of all authors (first name, middle initial, last name).
✔ Affiliations (department, institution, city, country).
✔ Corresponding author details (email, phone number).

Abstract

  • Word Limit: 250–300 words.
  • Structured Format: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
  • Keywords: Provide 4–6 keywords.

Main Manuscript Sections

1. Introduction

  • Clearly define the research problem and objectives.
  • Provide background information and significance.

2. Materials and Methods

  • Detailed methodology for reproducibility.
  • Include ethical approval and patient consent (if applicable).

3. Results

  • Present findings with tables, graphs, and figures.
  • Avoid interpretation in this section.

4. Discussion

  • Interpret results, compare with previous studies.
  • Highlight implications and limitations.

5. Conclusion

  • Summarize key findings and their impact.

6. References

  • Follow Vancouver style (numeric citations).
  • Example:
    • Smith J, Doe A. Advances in medical research. J Med Sci. 2022;15(3):123-130.

7. Acknowledgments

  • Mention any funding sources, institutional support, or contributors.

8. Conflict of Interest Statement

  • Declare any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts.

9. Figures and Tables

  • Figures: High-resolution (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF).
  • Tables: Numbered consecutively with titles above.

4. Ethical Considerations

Plagiarism: Manuscripts will be screened for plagiarism using detection software. 
Human/Animal Studies: Ethical approval is required for all studies involving human participants or animals.
Informed Consent: Written consent must be obtained for studies involving human subjects.
Authorship Contribution: All listed authors must have significantly contributed to the research.


5. Submission Process

Authors can submit manuscripts via the ICMERD-IJMS Online Submission Portal:

Manuscripts must be submitted in English.
✔ Ensure the Title Page is submitted separately to maintain the double-blind review process.
✔ Once submitted, authors will receive an acknowledgment email with a tracking ID.


6. Peer-Review Process

ICMERD-IJMS follows a double-blind peer-review process:

  1. Editorial Screening: Manuscripts undergo an initial check for formatting, scope, and plagiarism.
  2. Peer Review: Sent to two or more independent reviewers for evaluation.
  3. Author Revisions: Authors receive reviewer feedback and must submit a revised version.
  4. Final Decision: Based on reviewer recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief makes the final publication decision.

Review Timeline:
✔ Initial editorial screening: 5–7 days
✔ Peer review: 3–6 weeks
✔ Author revisions: 2–4 weeks
✔ Final decision: 8–10 weeks from submission


7. Publication Fees (Article Processing Charges - APC)

ICMERD-IJMS follows an open-access model. A one-time APC of $150 is charged upon acceptance.

8. Post-Publication Corrections & Retractions

Minor Corrections (Erratum/Corrigendum): Small changes that do not affect research conclusions.
Major Corrections: Significant data changes requiring a new version.
Retractions: Issued in cases of plagiarism, research misconduct, or ethical violations.
