Author Guidelines

ICMERD-International Journal of General Surgery (ICMERD-IJGS) welcomes original research articles, review papers, case studies, and clinical reports that contribute to the advancement of general surgery. Authors are advised to follow the guidelines outlined below to ensure a smooth submission and review process.


1. Manuscript Preparation

1.1 Article Types

ICMERD-International Journal of General Surgery (ICMERD-IJGS) accepts the following types of submissions:
Original Research Articles – Up to 6,000 words (excluding references and appendices)
Review Papers – Up to 8,000 words
Case Studies – Up to 3,000 words
Clinical Reports – Up to 4,000 words


1.2 Formatting Requirements

Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format and adhere to the following structure:
Font: Times New Roman, size 12
Line Spacing: 1.5
Margins: 1-inch (2.54 cm) on all sides
Title Page: Include the title, author names, affiliations, and corresponding author’s contact details
Abstract: 250–300 words, structured (Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion)
Keywords: 4–6 keywords
Main Text: Organize into Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion
References: Use APA (7th edition) citation style


1.3 Tables and Figures

  • Number all tables and figures consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Table 2).

  • Provide descriptive titles and legends.

  • Include high-resolution figures in JPEG or PNG format.

  • Tables and figures should be placed at the end of the manuscript or provided as separate files.


1.4 Ethical Considerations

  • Research involving human subjects must have received approval from a recognized ethics committee.

  • Authors must confirm that all participants provided informed consent.

  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, and image manipulation are strictly prohibited.


2. Submission Process

2.1 How to Submit

✅ Manuscripts must be submitted online via the ICMERD-IJGS Submission Portal.
✅ Ensure compliance with the author guidelines before submission.
✅ All authors must disclose any conflicts of interest during the submission process.

3. Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to ICMERD-IJGS undergo a double-blind peer review process:

  1. Initial Screening: The editorial team screens the submission for formatting and plagiarism.

  2. Reviewer Assignment: The manuscript is assigned to two or more independent reviewers.

  3. Review Evaluation: Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on originality, methodology, clarity, and relevance.

  4. Author Revisions: Authors receive reviewers’ feedback and are required to address comments and revise the manuscript as needed.

  5. Final Decision: The Editor-in-Chief makes the final acceptance or rejection decision based on the reviewers’ feedback.


4. Copyright and Open Access

  • Authors retain copyright under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0).

  • Articles are published under open access to maximize visibility and citation.

  • Authors are free to share and distribute their work with proper attribution.


5. Conflict of Interest and Funding Disclosure

Authors must disclose:
✅ Any financial, personal, or professional conflicts of interest.
✅ All sources of funding and financial support for the research.


6. Post-Acceptance

Once accepted:
✔ Authors will receive galley proofs for final approval before publication.
✔ Minor corrections can be made at this stage, but significant changes are not permitted.
✔ Accepted articles will be published online and assigned a DOI for permanent identification.
